“Behind the Madness”? Well, how about simply, “Madness”? The recording process of our latest effort, “…And A Devil On The Other” has been a very long and tedious process. To recap, we started in late December on a journey to record this album. We met up with a friend of a band member who said he was looking to start a studio and he wanted some test subjects. Week after week, month after month, nothing was getting done. Perhaps being test subjects come with a price… Unorganized. We’re not here to bash anyone, so let’s just say that some people weren’t into it. Needless to say, we spent, nay, wasted a large amount of time with this process. In June, we decided that we’ve had enough. We’d wasted too much time and had nothing to show for it. We decided to do the recording ourselves. Too little, too late, I know, but there were some emotions on the line that we had to consider.
Speaking of emotions, Head Not Found had another misfortune during these months. Newcomer to the band, David Bergquist, decided to part ways with Head Not Found. A simple “creative differences” does not apply here, it’s more of a lack of time. We had a good time with David and we enjoyed performing shows with him. He is an exceptional musician, but we’re a four piece, we’ve tried five and it’s just not us. The connection between the original four members is too strong. We’d like to thank David for the fun we had during his connection to the band.
After a couple of weeks hiatus trying to figure out our “attack” on this album, we began recording. Josh threw down track after track of drums. The band came together and worked out all of the “loose ends” of the songs. Here it is: July 21st, 2011 and Head Not Found is sitting on 11 finished drum tracks. It’s been a long journey and there is still a lot to do, but it’s the farthest we’ve been since we started. Be on the lookout for more updates and until then… Stay hard!
